My husband invented this by cobbling together a few different recipes. He calls this the “tourist” Mai Tai, because it is not as strong as many other Mai Tai recipes.
He bought the Trader Vics Orgeat Syrup from Bevmo, and says that you MUST use this magic ingredient or the drink won’t be good. Worth your time finding it and buying it.

The Tourist Mai Tai Cocktail
This is a light fruity Mai Tai that will leave you feeling very refreshed!
Servings: 1 person
Equipment
- Cocktail shaker
Ingredients
- 1 oz Spiced Dark Rum
- .5 oz White Rum
- 3 oz Pineapple Juice
- 2 oz Orange Juice
- .5 oz Orgeat Syrup We use Trader Vics
- 1 cup ice
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously
- Pour into a tall glass and drink up!
